On 10 June 2012, he was detained and arrested on charges of participation in the mass riots on Bolotnaya Square on 6 May 2012 and use of violence against a representative of the authorities, despite the fact that he was not on Bolotnaya Square on 6 May 2012. The defence obtained a dismissal of the violence charge. He was in pretrial detention in June-August 2012, then he was released on a recognisance not to leave. He was amnestied in February 2014.
