Elena Kokhtareva is an ordinary participant of the event on 6 May 2012 on Bolotnaya Square, who has no affiliation with any political movements or parties (at the time of the Bolotnaya rally). Following the events on Bolotnaya Square, her flat was searched for the first time on 19 March 2013. Kokhtareva was not at home, the flat was searched, and investigator Alexei Bykov went to Kokhtareva's dacha and handed her a summons obliging her to appear for questioning. Later she was charged with participation in mass riots and use of violence against a representative of the authorities. Kokhtareva pleaded guilty almost immediately. On 25 November she was charged in the final version. Kokhtareva filed an application for consideration of her case in a special order, but it was not satisfied either by the investigators or the judge. On 18 August 2014, Elena Kokhtareva was sentenced to three years and three months of suspended imprisonment. The court of second instance left the decision unchanged.
