In November 2013, it became known that a case had been opened against people involved in the activities of the Novosibirsk cell of the 'Tablighi Jamaat' organisation. On November 5, Rakhmanov was detained during a meeting in a flat with 15 other suspects and was charged with participation in the activities of an extremist organisation. On November 5, 2015, the court dismissed the case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
