Previously, on 27 October 2017, Fedorov was issued a permit to keep and carry a hunting weapon, which was cancelled on 12 March 2021. According to the investigation, it was at this point that Fedorov developed the intention to illegally possess smokeless gunpowder SUNAR.
Fedorov was placed under house arrest. In May 2022, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. On 24 October 2024, Fedorov was sentenced to three and a half years in an open prison.
