Aleksei Marfin

A resident of the Kirov region, he is facing charges for publicly justifying terrorism, although details about the case remain unclear. On 15 January 2025, he received a verdict related to this case, but specifics are not available.

In addition, another case was opened against him in the spring of 2025 for spreading deliberately false information about the Armed Forces and for insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland. The accusation of spreading “fake news” stems from Marfin's comments in various "VKontakte" public groups, where he discussed shelling of civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian cities by the Russian Armed Forces. He faced charges for insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland due to negative comments made under a post about the deaths of two Russian servicemen in Ukraine in 2022.

In September 2025, this case was taken to court. On 24 September, Marfin was sentenced to five and a half years in a general regime penal colony and fined 500,000 roubles. In December, the appellate court increased his sentence to six years.

In November 2022, Marfin was fined 20,000 roubles for inciting hatred (Article 20.3.1 of the Administrative Offences Code) due to a comment on a news article about the death of a Russian serviceman in Ukraine. The court concluded that he was inciting hatred against Russian military personnel.
