Alexander Ishchenko

From 25 February to 26 March 2022, he served in the territorial defence of the Ukrainian regiment "Azov" as a military driver. On 6 April 2022, he was detained. Ishchenko was accused of forcible seizure and retention of power and participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation. Human rights activists note that he is a prisoner of war, so he should not have been held criminally liable actually for participation in hostilities, and in addition, consider the charges absurd On 31 July 2024 it became known that Ishchenko died in the pre-trial detention centre. On 7 August it was reported that the cause of death was fractured ribs and chest trauma from "contact with a blunt object".
