He is a sailor, lived in Nakhodka and then moved to Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson region of Ukraine). After the outbreak of the war, he moved his family to the Kiev region (Ukraine). On 1 August 2023, he was detained on the territory of Primorsky Krai, where his ship had entered for loading. The police report they drew up against him stated that he tried to flee from the place of detention, refused to provide information requested in the framework of operational and search measures (it was not said for what reason) and threatened to use physical force. The next day Kozhedub was arrested for 15 days under the administrative article on disobedience of lawful demands of police officers (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences). At the end of the term of his arrest, on 16 August, Kozhedub inexplicably found himself in the Partizansky District of Primorsky Krai (about 20 kilometres from Nakhodka): according to the protocol, he was detained at 11:30 p.m. when he, “being a passenger of the vehicle , licence plate number No. RUS, refused to comply with the lawful demands of police officers that were expressed as follows: he refused to provide his identification documents, refused to give his full name, insulted the police officers and refused to get out of the car”. The next day the court arrested him for 15 days under the same article. At the end of the second arrest, on the morning of 1 September, Kozhedub was allegedly found in Partizansk five metres away from a certain apartment building, where, according to the protocol, he was “shouting loudly and using coarse profanities”. The court again arrested him for 15 days, this time under the administrative article on petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences). Kozhedub later reported in a letter that he served all three arrests in a special detention centre in Nakhodka. On 8 September 2023, he was taken into custody on charges of treason for transferring money to Ukraine. On 8 October 2024, he was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony.
