On 23 September 2019, he was detained as part of a criminal case on the activities of a terrorist organisation. On 28 September, the court sent him to custody. He confessed to himself and his accomplices and agreed to a special procedure for consideration of the case.

On 9 November 2020, he was sentenced to five years in a strict regime colony. Presumably, he was released in September 2024.
