Alim Sufyanov

He was detained on July 7, 2020, and later taken into custody on charges of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization due to his alleged involvement with the Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which has no connection to terrorism. On August 24, 2021, the case was returned to the prosecutor’s office because the materials had not been transcribed in Braille - another defendant, Aleksandr Sizikov, had lost his sight in a car accident. On October 27, the appeals court overturned that decision. On May 17, 2024, he was sentenced to 12 years in a strict-regime penal colony, with the first four years to be served in prison.
