Anatoliy Poplavskiy

An employee of an oil and gas company. On 6 October 2022, he was detained and drew up a report on petty hooliganism because he was swearing using profanities. According to "Ostorozhno, Novosti", Poplavskiy explained it by the fact that he divorced his wife and his children remained in Ukraine. He was arrested for 15 days, after which a criminal case was opened: initially he was charged with the creation of an illegal armed formation, but then reclassified as participation in an armed conflict. On 21 October, Poplavskiy was taken into custody. The Sota newspaper reported from the words of a man who was in the same cell with Poplavskiy in the special detention centre that he had a mark from a stun gun on his arm. Poplavskiy told him that on 6 October, after his arrest, he was "put a bag on his head and taken to the forest", where he was forced to unlock his phone and show his correspondence. In the phone they found critical statements about the Russian army. Later it became known that Poplavskiy was charged with preparation for participation in an armed conflict. On 2 November 2023, he was sentenced to five and a half years in a strict regime colony.
