Biography

He was a member of an autonomous group of radical nationalists and helped Duma deputy Viktor Alksnis. In June 2009, he was sentenced to 19 years in a strict regime colony on charges of murdering two natives of the Caucasus. His associates believe that the case was fabricated. He served his sentence in a colony in the Pskov region. A case was brought against him for spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces and propaganda of terrorism because of a conversation with fellow inmates, namely because of statements about the killing of civilians in Buche, shooting down a plane with prisoners of war and strikes on Dnieper, Kharkiv and Mariupol, and because of his approval of the murder of military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky. On 11 February 2026, Pochukaev was sentenced to three years in a strict regime colony, taking into account the time remaining from his previous sentence.
