On July 15, 2018, he was detained on charges of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation. On July 17, he was placed under house arrest.

On December 13, 2019, he was sentenced to two years suspended sentence. On March 25, 2020, the court of appeal cancelled the verdict and returned the case for a retrial. On July 9, the court of cassation, in turn, cancelled this decision and returned the case to the court of appeal. On September 16, the court of appeal confirmed the verdict.
