The case against Anton Izokaitis was initiated after, on 1 January 2014, in the cell for administrative detainees, where he was placed for petty hooliganism, he "expressed support and positive assessment" of the terrorist attacks in Volgograd that took place in December 2013 and "phrases about the need to use" violence against Russians. Izokaitis was charged with justifying terrorism, inciting hatred on ethnic grounds and calling for extremist activity. On 1 April 2015, Izokaitis was sentenced to two and a half years' imprisonment in a penal colony; the charge of calling for extremist activity was dropped. On 30 June 2015,
