Anton Ushachev

He was arrested on 28 July 2017 on charges of inciting religious hatred, insulting the feelings of believers and vandalism. According to the investigation, Ushachev put insulting inscriptions on the fence near the Borovets Church of the Holy Ascension Archbishop's Palace and near the spring. A minor girl who was detained together with Ushachev later said that the police beat her and demanded that she confess that she had written the inscriptions. In December 2017, Ushachev was placed under house arrest. The charge of incitement to hatred was dropped, the charge of insulting the feelings of believers was reclassified from Part 2 to Part 1 (the reference to committing acts in places specially designed for holding religious services was excluded). On 8 February 2018, he was sentenced to 320 hours of compulsory labour. In connection with the deprivation of freedom, after the decision has taken effect, Ushachev should be released from serving the sentence.
