Anton Zhuchkov

Resident of Omsk, security guard. He was detained at the anti-war protest on 6 March. His relatives lost contact with him, and he was found only on 12 March in hospital, at the Sklifosovsky Emergency Medical Research Institute. He was taken there because he had taken methadone after his arrest. Zhuchkov was later placed in custody. Initially, a case of preparation for hooliganism by a group of persons with the use of weapons or (part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code with application of part 1 of article 30 of the Criminal Code) was initiated. On 6 March, an anonymous VKontakte group "Polite People / War" published a report that two citizens detained on Pushkinskaya Square were found in possession of explosives. On 5 May it became known that the charge was reclassified to preparation for a terrorist act by a group of persons (part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code with application of part 1 of article 30 of the Criminal Code). On 20 April 2023 Zhuchkov was sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime colony. On 27 September, the court of appeal reduced his sentence by two months. In March 2024, it became known that in the pre-trial detention centre in Krasnoyarsk, where Zhuchkov spent several days on his way to the prison in Minusinsk, he was beaten by prisoners. Before this, the staff demanded that Zhuchkov denounce his cellmates to them, and when he refused, he was transferred to another cell, where he was beaten and threatened with rape if he did not co-operate with the administration.
