The hearings began on December 28, 2015. Initially, Yunusov was defended by Dzhemil Temishev. But on March 16, 2017, he was removed from the case - the prosecutor filed a motion for recusal, as Temishev had previously represented other defendants in the "February 26" case, Talyat Yunusov and Eskender Nebiyev, and the prosecutor saw a conflict of interest there.
In June 2018, he was sentenced to four years suspended sentence with the three years probation period.
