A resident of Mordovia. He was detained in December 2022 on charges of multiple arson attacks on the railway in Mordovia and Chuvashia. At that time, he had previously received two suspended sentences in theft-related cases. In January 2023, he was sentenced to a year and seven months of probation in another theft case, details unknown.

In March 2023, Adel Khaidarshin, a lawyer representing Begoyan from Solidarity Zone, stated that FSB officers had forced his client to dismiss him. "They said they could take him away, allegedly for investigative actions in the forest where they had burned a hut, and do something to him. They said that if he continued working with this lawyer, they would remove him from the detention center. They also threatened to make life more difficult in the pre-trial detention center," Khaidarshin relayed from Begoyan’s words. According to Solidarity Zone (https://t.me/solidarity_zone/491), Begoyan opposes Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and had hoped to suspend the supply of ammunition, equipment, and personnel to the war zone.

The investigation classified the arson attacks as acts of terrorism. Later, it became known that a case of high treason was also opened against Begoyan. On April 5, 2024, he was sentenced to 15 years in a strict-regime penal colony.

Additionally, Begoyan was accused of involvement in railway sabotage in a case initiated in the Krasnoyarsk region. According to the investigation, while carrying out orders from a certain Arthur, he corresponded with other defendants in the case, indicating where the arson attacks should be carried out. On October 1, 2024, he was sentenced to 20 years in a strict-regime colony, taking into account the previous sentence. On July 10, 2025, the appellate court reduced the sentence by two months.

In February 2025, it became known that a new case had been opened against Begoyan for publicly justifying terrorism, due to conversations with fellow inmates about blowing up the Crimean Bridge and the murder of military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky.
