Asan Chapukh and three other defendants in the case - Bekir Degermendzhi, Kazin Ametov and Ruslan Trubach were detained on 23 November 2017. Before the arrest, he decided to help the veteran of the Crimean Tatar national movement Vejiya Kashk, from whom the husband of his granddaughter, a Turkish citizen, according to the version of the investigation, borrowed, and according to the family - stole a large sum of money. Bekir Degermendzhi and other activists met with this man several times and tried to persuade him to return the stolen money.

On 24 November 2017, the defendants were sent to pre-trial detention.In October 2018, Chapukh was transferred to house arrest.
On 17 April, he was sentenced to three and a half years suspended sentence. Shortly before the verdict, the court recovered from Yusuf Aitan the money allegedly extorted from him by the defendants in the "Vejiye Kashk case".
