On 5 March 2020, in connection with the actions of the investigation and the court, filed a criminal complaint with the Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor's Office of the Saratov region, demanding to initiate criminal proceedings under Articles 299 and 301 of the Criminal Code (bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal responsibility, unlawful detention) due to the fact that the evidence in the case was collected in May-October 2018, but the official publication of information on the recognition of Tablighi Jamaat as an extremist organisation occurred in Rossiyskaya Gazeta only on 13 December of the same year.
On 13 August, he was sentenced to three years' imprisonment in a general regime colony and a year of restricted freedom. He was released in 2021.
