In October 2017, Iritov's brother Aslan and the organisation he headed planned to hold a rally against the sale of land in Volniy Aul, a resort village in Nalchik. Before the rally, according to Kavkazsky Uzel, the siloviki (security forces) came to the Iritov brothers' home and beat them up. The brothers filed a police report. According to Iritov's niece, a criminal case was opened against them for using violence against the siloviki (security forces) after they refused to take the statement back.
