On 28 February 2019, Darya Panicheva was detained at her workplace and sent to Khabarovsk, to pre-trial detention centre №1 (she was transferred to another region because the investigation is being handled by the 6th Main Investigation Directorate, which is based in Khabarovsk). According to the press service of the FGBU, Panicheva was not allowed to go home, where her minor son, whom she is raising alone, remained, as well as to collect things and medicines (Panicheva suffers from a number of chronic diseases, including bronchial asthma). On 1 March 2019, the judge of the Central District Court of Khabarovsk issued a ruling on the election of a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for Daria Panicheva.
On 15 July 2022, she was sentenced to four and a half years in a general regime colony. On 7 February 2023, the court of appeal instance cancelled the verdict and sent the case for a new consideration. Panicheva was released from custody.
On 4 April 2024, at the retrial, Panicheva was sentenced to three and a half years' suspended sentence.
