His acquaintances say that when he talked to representatives of the military recruitment centre, he said that they were "stealing the hall from the children" because "the war is more important to them than the children". According to Mamonov, local journalists refused to cover the situation because they feared prosecution "for discrediting the Russian Defence Ministry". In August 2023, he was summoned to the police station, after which he decided to leave Russia for Turkey. Acquaintances claim that the trouble with the police stemmed from a publication dedicated to the death of a friend, where he wrote, among other things, "war be damned. NO WAR!" In addition, they mention that he publicly refused to vote for United Russia at work because "...it was the party that started the war".
Already being in another country, he, according to him, received threats and insults, including to his child. His VKontakte page was blocked by the Prosecutor General's Office because of anti-war statements. A case was opened against Mamonov for public justification of terrorism.
