A resident of St. Petersburg. He participated in anti-war rallies. On 24 September 2022, he was detained in a case of a false report of a terrorist attack. The reason was a call from an unknown person about the bombing of the Moscow District Court. The next day he was released under an obligation to appear.

On 18 October 2022, police officers came to Martynichev's workplace and took him to Police Station No. 77 in connection with a case of assault. The incident stemmed from a conflict in the metro with a pro-war supporter. The scuffle in the metro occurred in May 2022 after the activist made a remark to the young man, and other passengers supported the man wearing a Z symbol on his clothing, which called Martynichev a "Ukrainian fascist". Martynichev claims that he did not hit the man, and the eyebrow laceration occurred accidentally during the push-and-shove. That day passengers handed the activist over to the police. He was held in Police Station No. 77 for a day, then fined 500 rubles under the article on petty hooliganism (Part 1, Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences) and released. Nevertheless, the young man, considering himself the victim, filed a complaint of assault.

Martynichev was left alone in the police station and, since he was not detained, he went to work, but on 19 October he himself voluntarily came to the police department of the Admiralteysky District with a lawyer. He was given a recognisance not to leave.

On 16 May 2023 he was sentenced to six months of suspended corrective labor. On 17 August 2023, the appeal court overturned the conviction and referred the case back to the first instance court. On 10 October 2023, at the retrial, Martynichev was sentenced to five months of suspended corrective labor.
