A popular YouTube blogger, Ivanov left Russia in 2017 after one of his videos was flagged for allegedly inciting suicide (Article 110.1 of the Criminal Code). In September 2022, it was revealed that Ivanov was being prosecuted for spreading 'fake news' about the Armed Forces. On September 23, 2022, the Ministry of Justice included him in its register of 'foreign agents.' In December, he was placed on the wanted list. Initially, the case was filed under Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code, but in April 2024, the charge was reclassified to the distribution of military 'fakes'

On May 7, 2024, Ivanov was arrested in absentia. On October 21, 2024, he was sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison.
