On April 3, 2022, when attempting to leave the occupied Mariupol, he was detained at a checkpoint. The next day, Lisovets was arrested for five days under an administrative article on disobedience to the lawful demands of law enforcement officers (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code), and then placed in pre-trial detention, where he was held for over two months without procedural status. The lawyer who later took on his case reported that Lisovets was tortured during this time. On June 16, 2022, a case was initiated against Lisovets for participating in the activities of an illegal armed group and extremist organization, as well as for undergoing training with the aim of carrying out terrorist activities. On December 7, 2023, the former Ukrainian serviceman was sentenced to 16 years in a maximum-security prison.
