Dzhamal Kochkarov

A resident of Karachay-Cherkessia. On December 6, 2023, he was detained and subsequently taken into custody on charges of participation in the activities of an extremist organization, in connection with alleged involvement with At-Takfir wal-Hijra (some human rights defenders believe that no such organization exists), as well as possession of weapons. In February 2025, an official statement was published stating that Kochkarov had been sentenced to two and a half years in a general-regime penal colony. Presumably, he was released in October 2025.
