Ekaterina Fomina

A former correspondent of the publication Vazhnye Istorii (Important Stories). She left Russia in March 2022. In January 2024, it became known that Fomina was prosecuted for "fakes" about the Armed Forces, related to an interview she conducted in July 2022 with serviceman Daniil Frolkin - during the conversation with the journalist, he confessed his involvement in the killing of civilians in the Kiev region and other crimes. A similar case was also brought against Frolkin, and he was sentenced to five and a half years suspended sentence. TASS in a report on the case against Fomina, claimed that the journalist had promised to help Frolkin to leave for one of the NATO countries where he could seek political asylum, but she failed to keep her promise. On 17 June 2024 it became known that Fomina was declared wanted. On the same day she was arrested in absentia in the case of spreading deliberately false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The reason was the interview with Frolkin. On 31 March 2025, Fomina was sentenced in absentia to eight and a half years.
