Former deputy of the Ekaterinburg City Duma. State Duma deputy Andrei Alshevskikh requested to prosecute Borovik under the administrative article on discrediting the army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences), then the prosecutor's office blocked Borovik's VKontakte page, but later the police closed the administrative case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. However, later the court still fined the former deputy 45 thousand rubles under this article. In 2023, Borovik was denied registration as a self-nominated candidate in the Ekaterinburg City Duma elections, but later the Supreme Court ruled the refusal illegal, after which Alshevskikh started writing denunciations against Borovik, which eventually became the reason for opening a criminal case on public justification of terrorism. What exactly became the formal reason for the case is unknown. In April 2025, it became known that Borovik was also prosecuted for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. Presumably, the reason was a post dedicated to the initiation of the first criminal case, in which the former deputy, in particular, calls the war "absolutely unmotivated, invasive, fratricidal".
