Evgeny Afanasiev

Yevgeny Afanasiev is a professor at the Department of Launch and Technical Complexes of Rockets and Spacecrafts of the Ustinov Baltic State Technical University "Voenmeh" in St. Petersburg. In March 2010, he was detained by the FSB on suspicion of transferring technical data on the Bulava intercontinental missile to China. The trial was held in closed mode. During the arguments, the prosecutor demanded 15 years' imprisonment for Afanasyev. On 20 June 2012, he was sentenced to 12 and a half years in a strict regime colony. Died in the colony in April 2015.
