Halil Kurtamet

A resident of Ukraine's Kherson Oblast. He worked in car maintenance and repair and owned a hotel that was seized by the Russian forces after Russia had launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Headed a local religious group called 'Islam'. On 7 November 2023, he was detained in the occupied territory and accused of being part of the The Noman Chelebidzhikhan Crimean Tatar Battalion. A year before that, his son Appaz Kurtamatov had been detained and accused of being part of the 'Islamic Battalion Krym'. On 19 October 2024, Kurtamet was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony.
