Igor Boytsun

Resident of Komi. He was detained at Moscow airport under the pretext of illegal border crossing with Ukraine. According to the website of the project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" with reference to the KomiPolitsek telegram channel, after the detention the law enforcers began to put pressure on Boytsun, demanding that he show them the contents of his mobile devices and social networks. They promised that they would release him, but after looking at his comments on YouTube, they opened a case against him for calling for extremism and terrorism. He was taken to Syktyvkar, where he was placed in custody on 17 May 2023. On 13 September 2023, Boytsun was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony. In the colony he had conflicts with other prisoners, in particular because of his anti-war stance. The administration made the conditions of his detention more seevere: for two months he was kept in a high-security barracks outside the colony.
