Biography
Ivashin was searched on June 30 or July 1, 2018. He was accused of involvement in the activities of an extremist organization due to his connection with the Jehovah’s Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist charges solely because of their religious activities — holding meetings and worship services, and recruiting new supporters. On July 2, Ivashin was released on a travel restriction order.
On November 20, 2019, the court returned the case to the prosecutor’s office. On January 9, 2020, the appellate court overturned this decision.
On April 1, 2020, he was sentenced to six years probation.
