Igor Kupich

A resident of the village of Pionerskoye. According to the investigation, on the night of 28 May 2022, he threw a bottle with a flammable mixture at the window of the military recruitment office. A case of hooliganism with the use of weapons and illegal possession of explosives (part 1 of article 222.1 of the Criminal Code) was instituted against Kupich. He was taken into custody. Then, presumably, the charges were reclassified from hooliganism to sabotage. Later in the case, apparently, there appeared another charge of illegal possession of explosives, as well as preparation to commit sabotage: according to the investigation, Kupich was going to blow up the railway tracks, for which he had purchased an anti-tank mine in advance. He photographed the railway bridge to determine the place for the placement of the explosive device. On 30 March 2023, the Crimean resident was sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime colony. On 25 July, the court of appeal reduced the sentence by six months.
