In April 2020, Bikbayeva was searched in connection with the fact that in 2018-2019 she donated 6,000 rubles to the mother of Bashkir opposition activist Airat Dilmukhametov, who is being prosecuted under extremist articles. Bikbayeva was taken to the FSB for questioning and officially charged with financing extremist activities in December. On 6 September 2021 she was sentenced to three years suspended sentence.
