Ilya Buryi

A resident of Yoshkar-Ola. A case was opened against him for organising activities of an extremist organisation on charges of involvement in the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Buryi was given a recognisance not to leave.

Representatives of the Jehovah's Witnesses community are prosecuted under extremist articles exclusively in connection with religious activities: holding meetings and worship services, attracting new supporters.

On 13 February 2025, Buryi was sentenced to a fine of 600,000 rubles.
