Iurii Kornyi

Detained on 12 October 2017. According to police reports, bottles containing an incendiary mixture were seized, which Kornyi and his accomplices allegedly planned to use to set fire to hay, decorations, and leftover construction debris on Manezhnaya Square, remaining there after a city festival. On the same day, he was arrested under the administrative article on petty hooliganism. On 23 October, a criminal case was opened on charges of preparing a terrorist act. On 27 October, he was placed in custody as part of the criminal case. Kornyi was denied visits and, for a long time, was not allowed to see his lawyer. From 4 July to 20 August 2018, he went on a hunger strike demanding to be transferred from "Lefortovo" pre-trial detention centre to a facility not under FSB control and to undergo a medical examination. For a short period, he was moved to the hospital at "Matrosskaya Tishina", but was later returned to "Lefortovo".

On 18 June 2020, he was sentenced to ten years in a strict-regime penal colony. On 10 June 2021, the appellate court reduced the sentence by two months.

By no later than January 2026, the prison administration reported that Kornyi had been released, even though more than a year and a half of his sentence remained. The reasons and details are unknown.
