Jalaudi Geriev

On 16 April 2016, Geriev was detained, and a package allegedly containing marijuana according to forensic analysis, was confiscated from him. Geriev claimed that on that day, he had planned to fly to the Moscow region but was forcibly removed from a bus en route to Grozny by unidentified individuals. He reported being taken to a forest, where he was questioned about his journalistic activities, tortured, and threatened with death before being coerced into signing a confession for possessing marijuana.

On 5 September 2016, Gereyev was sentenced to three years in a general-regime penal colony.

In April 2019, he was released.
