Originally from Arkhangelsk, he suffers from a chronic illness and has elderly relatives who are his dependents. On 7 June 2022, the court of first instance sentenced Bogdanov to four months in a penal colony and released him due to time served. On 18 August, the appeal court increased the sentence to six months, so that Bogdanov would have to spend about two months in a penal colony.
