Resident of Lukhovitsy, Moscow region, aircraft assembler at the Lukhovitsy Aviation Plant named after P.A. Voronin. He tried to leave Russia, but on 8 March 2022 he was detained at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, after which he was handed over to representatives of the Russian authorities in connection with a criminal case due to the arson attack on a military recruitment centre. That day he published a video of his attack on the military recruitment centre and a manifesto. On 13 March Butylin managed to escape from the police department. The young man was put on the wanted list, but in the evening of the same day he was detained again. At first Butylin was charged with vandalism (Article 214 of the Criminal Code), then a charge of damage to property in the form of arson (part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code) was added, after which the second charge was reclassified as committing a terrorist act. In addition, Butylin was accused of public justification of terrorism (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) in connection with the arsonist manifesto published by him, in which he spoke out against war. Butylin is in custody. He said that in the pre-trial detention centre in Kolomna they tried to force him to say the phrase "Putin is cool" on camera. After the young man refused, the law enforcers said he would "rot in solitary confinement for 15 years with paedophiles, [his] teeth will fall out". On 15 March 2023, the court sentenced him to 13 years in a strict regime colony.
