Marina Novikova

Resident of Seversk, lawyer. She has the 1st group of visual disability. In early October, Novikova's health deteriorated: after contracting a coronavirus, she developed cardiological complications, and during her hospitalisation she was scheduled for heart surgery and constant medical supervision. She asked for a stay of proceedings pending the surgery and for permission to testify and answer questions sitting down, but the court denied the motions. According to the case card on the court's website, sessions continue to be scheduled regularly, but the defendant does not attend. According to Novikova's husband, she constantly suffocates and suddenly loses consciousness or orientation in space. At the same time, doctors at the local polyclinic provide conclusions that her state of health is good enough to participate in the trial. Novikova's husband believes that this is due to pressure from the prosecutor's office. Novikova was diagnosed with angina pectoris, atherosclerosis, hypertension, chronic cerebral ischaemia and type II diabetes mellitus.
