Maxim Vernikov

Maxim Vernikov, the former coordinator of Open Russia in Yekaterinburg, was detained on March 14, 2019, following a search. After interrogation, the activist was released on his own recognizance. He faced charges in connection with the case of conducting activities of an organization considered undesirable on the territory of Russia (Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code).

On February 11, 2020, he was sentenced to 300 hours of compulsory labor.
