Mikhail Avdonin

Resident of Arkhangelsk. On 23 September 2023, he was detained on the territory of an abandoned military unit. During the detention he was severely beaten - according to his father, Avdonin could not swallow. He was accused of attempted terrorist act and high treason. According to the investigation, Avdonin planned to commit arson on the territory of the military unit on the assignment of the Legion Freedom of Russia. However, human rights activists believe that he fell victim to provocateurs of the FSB. He was followed before he entered the territory of the unit and was detained as soon as he was there. According to Avdonin's father, anattorney forced the his son to sign "some paper" that said he had set fire to "some bathhouses on the territory of the military base." Avdonin himself told "First Department" that an "unidentified person" contacted him on the Internet, asked him to set fire to "some old tattered car tyres" and promised him 30,000 roubles for it. Avdonin claims that he could not assume that the abandoned military unit was still property of the Ministry of Defence. Later it became known that he is accused of vandalism, attempted terrorist act, participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation and high treason. On 22 November 2024, Avdonin was sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime colony.
