Mikhail Dariy

A native of the Moscow region, a specialist in advertising and internet promotion. After the war started he left for Moldova. In September 2023, he was detained at the airport when he came to see his children. He was taken into custody in a case of justification of terrorism. Later he was charged with participation in the activity of a terrorist organisation, preparation for committing a terrorist act and attempted manufacture of explosives. Dariy was an administrator of an anti-war chat room. He says that he corresponded with Ukrainians and "pursued a policy of defending Russians to the other side, explaining that public bullying and ridicule never lead to a positive result." According to Dariy, an investigator told him that the people he corresponded with "had a high military status." According to Dariy's wife, he was tortured after his detention to extract statements. As a result, his Adam's apple and right arm were broken, and an umbilical hernia popped out. Dariy was unable to use his broken arm for three months. On July 26, 2024, he was sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime colony.
