Mirzobarot Mirzosharipov

In June 2017, he was taken into custody on charges of involvement in a terrorist organisation. On 26 July 2018, he was sentenced to 6 years in a general regime prison.

After being transferred to prison, a case was opened against Mirzosharipov for publicly justifying terrorist activity in connection with discussions about Hizb ut-Tahrir. According to the case files, Mirzosharipov spoke to other prisoners in Pre-Trial Detention Centre No. 1 and IK-40 in the Kemerovo Region about the organisation. Mirzosharipov himself stated that he was beaten in prison and that, during questioning about Hizb ut-Tahrir, one prisoner held scissors to his throat while another recorded his words. At trial, when witnesses were asked to indicate on a diagram the room where the conversation took place, they pointed to different rooms.

On 11 November 11 2019, Mirzosharipov was sentenced to 3 years' imprisonment; under the court’s ruling, the combined sentence, including the unserved portion of his first term, amounted to 5 years. By 2022 at the latest, a new case was opened against him for publicly justifying terrorism, linked to conversations about the organisation Jabhat al-Nusra in October 2021, while he was serving his sentence. On 25 April 2023, he was sentenced to 4 years for this charge, but taking into account previously unserved time, his total sentence was set at 5 years in a strict regime prison.
