Resident of St. Petersburg. According to Ermatov, he was detained on 5 April 2017 as he was leaving a hostel on Tovarishcheskiy Avenue in St. Petersburg. He was attacked by three men, one of them broke his nose. Later, his brother Ibragimyusup Ermatov, accused in the same case, said that he saw that Mukhamadyusup's car doors were unlocked, and the tyres punctured. Mukhamadyusup Ermatov, according to him, was taken to an unknown place, where he was held for more than a month, tortured with electric shocks and required to confess that he knew Akbarzhon Jalilov, who died in the terrorist

He was attacked by three men, one of them broke his nose. Later, his brother Ibragimyusup Ermatov, accused in the same case, said that he saw that Mukhamadyusup's car doors were unlocked, and the tyres punctured. Mukhamadyusup Ermatov, according to him, was taken to an unknown place, where he was held for more than a month, tortured with electric shocks and required to confess that he knew Akbarzhon Jalilov, who died in the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro on 3 April 2017. Ermatov was officially detained in Druzhba Park in Moscow on 11 May 2017, after which he was placed in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention centre. In April 2019, he and the other defendants were transferred to the pre-trial detention centre in St. Petersburg. He was accused of involvement in the terrorist attack on the St. Petersburg metro, as human rights activists believe, without grounds.
On 10 December 2019, he was sentenced to 28 years in a strict regime colony. On 6 August 2021, the court of appeal reduced the sentence by two months.
