He was detained at the end of January 2019, taken into custody on 30 January on charges of organising the activities of an extremist organisation. On 24 December, he was released on personal recognizance.
On 5 March 2020, in connection with the actions of the investigation and the court, he filed a criminal complaint with the Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor's Office of the Saratov region, demanding to initiate criminal proceedings under Articles 299 and 301 of the Criminal Code (bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal responsibility, unlawful detention)

On 5 March 2020, in connection with the actions of the investigation and the court, he filed a criminal complaint with the Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor's Office of the Saratov region, demanding to initiate criminal proceedings under Articles 299 and 301 of the Criminal Code (bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal responsibility, unlawful detention) due to the fact that the evidence in the case was collected in May-October 2018, but the information aboutrecognising Tablighi Jamaat as an extremist organisation was officially published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta as late as 13 December of the same year.
On 13 August, he was sentenced to a year and four months of imprisonment in a general regime colony and a year of restriction of freedom. The court considered the term of imprisonment served.
