Biography
Former leader of the Union of Right Forces party and former governor of Kirov region. On 24 June 2016, he was detained, according to the investigation, while receiving a bribe. The next day Belykh was taken into custody. On 28 July 2016, President Putin removed him from the governor's office. The case initially had two episodes, on one of them the court acquitted the politician. On 6 July 2021, it became known that a case of abuse of power was initiated against Belykh. On 26 December 2023, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in this case, but was released from punishment due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. On 21 June 2024, Belykh was released. On 8 July 2024, the appeal court acquitted Belykh of abuse of power.
