Polozov is a defence lawyer and served as a defence counsel in the cases of the Pussy Riot punk prayer in Christ the Saviour Cathedral, the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko and the Ukrainian sailors detained in Crimea, and also participated in a number of cases initiated against Crimean Tatar activists and other political prisoners on the peninsula. He later left for Ukraine, and after the outbreak of the war in 2022, he co-founded the project “Poisk. Plen” (“Poshuk. Polon”), which searches for Ukrainians taken prisoner by the Russian army and provides them with legal assistance. He became a member of the Free Russia Forum. In June 2025, Polozov spoke about secret prisons for Ukrainian captives in Russia.

In early July 2025, it was reported that the Russian Interior Ministry issued an arrest warrant for Polozov. The lawyer was charged with spreading “fakes” about the Russian army motivated by hatred.

On 15 October 2025, Polozov was included in the list of extremists and terrorists of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) with a note normally put next to the names of people prosecuted under terrorist articles. The prosecution seems to be related to the activities of the Free Russia Forum.
