Resident of Almetyevsk, supporter of Vyacheslav Maltsev, In October 2017, he came to Moscow after learning that Maltsev was calling for participation in the revolution on 5 November. He was detained late in the evening of 1 November in a rented flat. According to Dmitriev, he and other detainees were held for about an hour and a half on the floor with an open balcony stripped to their waists, after which it was discovered that Molotov cocktails had been found in the flat. Dmitriev claims that they were planted. According to him, he was tortured with electric shocks in the flat and then beaten at the police station with his hands cuffed behind his back. The next day the court arrested Dmitriev for 15 days under an administrative article on disobedience to the lawful demands of police officers. On 17 November, Dmitriev was taken into custody under a criminal case on participation in a terrorist community and preparation of a terrorist act. Four people were detained in the flat, but only three of them appear in the case, the fourth - Vadim Maiorov - disappeared immediately after the detainees were taken out of the flat. Shortly before his detention, Maiorov suggested the use of weapons and methods of conspiracy on 5 November, making Dmitriev and other defendants in the case consider him a provocateur. In January 2019, the court granted the motion of the prosecutor's office to drop the charge of participation in a terrorist community. On 22 January, Dmitriev was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony.

In the summer of 2019, Dmitriev broke his knee while doing physical exercises on the exercise yard of the Butyrka pre-trial detention centre. After the incident, Dmitriev was sent by ambulance to Botkin Hospital, where he was x-rayed, put in a plaster cast and recommended a rest regime.

Upon his return to the pre-trial detention centre, Dmitriev was unable to obtain permission to be transferred from his cell to the hospital at the detention centre for 3 days, despite his worsening pains and his hunger strike. As a result, he was transferred to the hospital for 20 days, where doctors had to decide whether Dmitriev should undergo surgery or not. However, for some unknown reason, the colony staff ignored the issue of surgery. During his transfer from Moscow to the Sverdlovsk region, representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service took away Dmitriev's crutches, and Dmitriev was able to get them again only in Nizhny Tagil Penal Colony No. 5. By the time of transfer to the colony Dmitriev had not been diagnosed, he was kept in quarantine for about a month and only on 6 November, he was transferred to the hospital at the Penal Colony No. 2 in Yekaterinburg.

On 1 November 2025, Dmitriev was released.
