Biography
A freight forwarding driver from Shcherbinka near Moscow, he worked as a private entrepreneur, delivering cargo in a Gazelle van around the Moscow region and other areas.
On 8 July 2025, FSB officers came to his home. After searching his apartment, Kuryaev was detained. Following that, he was arrested four times in a row on administrative charges of disobeying the police and petty hooliganism.
On the evening of 28 August, at the end of his fourth administrative arrest, Kuryaev was taken from the special detention center to the FSB building on Lubyanka. Later, he told his lawyer that inside the FSB building

Later, he told his lawyer that inside the FSB building he was beaten and tortured with a stun gun, receiving electric shocks to his arms and legs.
On the morning of 29 August, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow ordered Kuryaev into custody on charges of state treason. According to law enforcement officials, he allegedly used his work vehicle “to drive around infrastructure facilities and send photos to Ukrainian intelligence.” Kuryaev does not admit guilt. Mediazona noted that leaked databases had listed him among “opposition activists.”
